Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre

We got to know Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre in the early months of 2006 when it was a small, but well run care facility for severely disabled children in Khayelitsha, with nothing more but a shipping container and a few beds. We assisted informally with donations and realized after some time that Nomasango, the founder and director, was keen to partner with us. In the beginning of 2007 Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre became our main project.

Over the years Sibongile developed continuously. After six years, when it had grown to three residential care facilities, a day care for severely disabled children, an impressive number of staff, a management team and sustainable funding, we knew our time at Sibongile was over. It took well over a year to prepare our transition and finally, in April 2014, we laid down our last responsibilities at Sibongile.

We are still in touch with the Sibongile team and are proud that the organisation keeps running successfully, entirely managed and staffed by local South Africans. We wish Nomasango and her crew all the best and God's guidance for the future as they offer such a valuable service to the disabled children of Khayelitsha!
